Left is the photo by Alison Wright that Pico Iyer wanted
for his book cover. It is of the Dalai Lama walking past an Indian soldier and holding out his hand to touch the barrel of
the soldier's gun. Unfortunately, it was already on the cover of another book. PICO IYER is the product of English, American and Indian cultures.
He has traveled widely, with Japan as his base, and has written several works of non-fiction and two novels. He writes up
to 100 articles a year and is a regular essayist for Time Magazine.
